I'm a mechanical engineer by training and licensure. I ran Energysmiths, a design and consulting firm specializing in environmentally friendly, high performance buildings and communities for 30 years, and now do the same work based out of South Mountain Company on Martha's Vineyard. I've been a student of low carbon living since college. I'm a seriously obsessed bicycle enthusiast. We bought a house in Island Cohousing at the end of 2010, and I'm focused on cutting the fossil fuel umbilical and switching to renewable energy, while improving comfort and air quality.
